The Potent Robe is a charisma-focused chest piece, and you can get it from Rescue the Tieflings Quest in Act 2, Baldur’s Gate 3 – This short Guide Explains everything you need to know about the Potent Robe in BG3.
Potent Robe
Potent Robe is a clothing chest gear that offers 10 AC Armour Class and two fantastic bonuses, and you can get it from Alfira for the competition of Rescue the Tieflings Quest in BG3.
Cantrips are basic spells that spellcasters can use at will without expending spell slots. With the Gregarious Caster bonus, your cantrips will deal additional damage equal to your Charisma Modifier. The Well-Liked and Well-Fortified bonus activates at the beginning of your character’s turn when wearing the robe. It grants your character temporary hit points equal to their Charisma Modifier. Temporary hit points act as a buffer that absorbs damage before your character’s actual hit points are affected. They are often represented as a separate pool of hit points.
These bonuses make the Potent Robe particularly appealing for characters with high Charisma scores, especially spellcasters who rely on cantrips such as Sorcerer and Warlock. The Charisma Modifier determines the strength of these bonuses, so characters with higher Charisma scores will benefit more from this robe. You can equip it to your character’s chest slot in the inventory, providing additional bonuses and buffs. There are no requirements for this item.

How to Get Potent Robe in Baldur’s Gate 3
To get the Potent Robe in BG3, you must complete the Rescue the Tieflings Quest and receive the reward from Alfira.
Arrive at Last Light Inn and Pick up the Rescue the Tieflings Quest
When you arrive at Last Light Inn in the Shadow-Cursed Lands in Act 2, you’ll learn that some of the tieflings were kidnapped and probably imprisoned in Moonrise Towers. Last Light Inn is the last safe harbor where you’ll meet Jaheira and other characters from Act 1 if you decide to save Emerald Grove. It’s Located directly to the west from where you arrive at act 2 (X: -65 Y: 140). Speak with Alfira, the tiefling bard in the Last Light Inn, to obtain the Rescue the Tieflings Quest and head to the Moonrise Towers.
Head to Moonrise Towers Prison
You’ll find the Towers to the southwest of the map. Convince the guards you’re a follower of the Absolute, and you can enter as a friend. Alternatively, you can kill everyone inside and save the tieflings from prison. However, you’ll find some interesting dialogues, clues, side quests, and merchants that won’t be available if you decide on an aggressive approach. I advise you first to pretend to be a cultist’s friend, and once you are sure you have completed and discovered everything, head to the prison to rescue the tieflings.
From the front door, make your way to the west side of the Tower, where you’ll find Stairs leading down into the Prison (X: -175 Y: -192). If you still haven’t started the fight with Absolute cultists, the guards will let you inside the prison. Otherwise, they’ll attack you. Inside prison cells, you’ll find tieflings and Lia, and she will tell you that gnomes are up to something. In the cell next to them are gnomes and Wulbren, another character worth saving that you may meet in Act 3 and will reward you with some gold for helping him and his prisonmates.
Rescue the Tieflings and Wulbren
Your Goal is to Save the Tieflings, Gnomes, and Wulbren. You can do it in a few ways, but eventually, when you defeat all guards, the prisoners will be free, and they will use a small harbor hidden in the back tunnels to escape Moonrise Towers. Those tunnels also connect the cells from the back, so you can explore and familiarize yourself with the area before you approach saving everyone. Check the picture for reference.
During the conversation, Wulbren will be suspicious. He will ask why you want to help him and what your business is here. Overall, being honest and telling him that you came to save tieflings should earn you his trust. Pass a 10 DC persuasion skill check, and he will tell you about his plan. Wulbren needs tools, and anything will do. You can sneak into the Warden’s office in the tower in the center of the prison and steal gnome’s tools taken from them when they were arrested. However, you can give them any tools. You only need to ensure one will see you are helping them.
In the Warden’s Office
To steal the tools, head to the Warden’s office at coordinates (X:572 Y:-655). If guards are still friendly, you can speak with the Warden and learn about confiscated items, and she will disclose that she has been concealing them in the office directly above. Alternatively, you can try to pass an Intelligence check, which will uncover the levers behind her desk. These levers can unlock the cell doors, and the other, the larger lever, activates the alarm system.
1st Solution: Open the Cells
This is the most risky solution. You can use the lever behind the Warden’s desk to open the cells, but this will create chaos, and all guards will start attacking the prisoners instantly. You can jump in and help out, but many of your allies may die during the fight. After the battle, lead the survivors to the small boat in the cave behind the cells.
2nd Solution: Steal the Gnomes’ Tools
In the Warden’s Tower, you can go up the ladder to steal gnomes’ tools. However, watch out for the one eyeball, the watcher. This purple ball creature will alert every guard in the prison if they spot you stealing or in the restricted area.
Another solution is to kill the Warden in their office but ensure to destroy the eye. It can alert other guards, and they will attack prisoners, too. The chest with tools is on the floor above inside the locked chest. Pass a 14 DC dexterity skill check to get them. Return to Wulbren and give him the tools and signal gnomes to start the rescue. They will destroy the back door of their prison. Your task is to distract the guards and cover the escape. They will try to escape using tunnels behind the cells, ultimately leading to a cave harbor with boats. Kill guards and ensure the prisoners survive.
3rd Solution 3: Destroy the Back Cell’s Walls Yourself
Alternatively, you can use weapon attacks to destroy medium toughness cell’s back walls. We managed to destroy the wall with piercing damage from the Titanstring longbow and the other with the Silversword of astral plane slashing damage. If you have a character with high strength, you shouldn’t have any problems with smashing the walls.
This is probably the easiest way to solve this quest. You don’t need to sneak inside Warden’s tower, so you don’t risk being spotted. While three of your team members will stand directly before the tunnel entrance, one of your characters can destroy the cell’s back walls and help tieflings and gnomes safely go straight to the boat. As a result, only your team will fight the guards, and it’s the easiest way to avoid casualties.
Get the Potent Robe
Now that everyone is safe, you can return to Last Light Inn or join them later. Remember to speak with everyone eventually: Wulbren to complete the Rescue Wulbren Quest, and Alfira to conclude Rescue the Tieflings quest and get the Potent Robe in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)!
